SIT wants 13,000 illegal Madarasas shut, most located along Nepal border

The Special Investigation Team setup by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the illegal Madarasas has recommended to close down 13,000 of them.

Most of the Madarasas needed to be shut are said to be along the Nepal border. The SIT, as per sources, claimed that many of these Madarasas are funded by money from gulf countries.

It is learnt that a comprehensive report has been submitted to the state government with regards to illicit Madarasas.

Sources claimed that most of the Madarasas that need to be closed are located in seven districts along Nepal border. The seven districts includes Shravasti, Maharajganj and Bahraich.

While many of the Madarasas claimed to be built out of donations, the SIT sources are now scrutinising their financial records as these have been constructed over past two decades itself.
